The Rotary Club of Oban Clay Target Championship hosted by Past President Billy MacLean and the Lorne Clay Target Club was held on Friday 30th August at the Moss , Benderloch.
Rotary President Peter Tosh was King of the BBQ with a mix of venison burgers and Jackson’s best beef burgers and effortlessly kept all well fed with all the trimmings.
Many thanks to the members of the Lorne Clay Target Club, who acted as coaches and ensured that everyone was safe and enjoyed the sport. Thanks also to Past President Billy MacLean and Past President Lachie Beaton for providing the prizes.
Rotarian Champion on the day was Tommy McQuade.
A lovely evening was had by all despite the midges, which were as fierce as always.

Members of the Lorn Clay Target Club provided all equipment, judges and coaching to the large body of Rotarians who attended the Shoot.
Rotarians Peter Tosh and PP Terry MacNair raised money for good causes by selling tasty burgers donated free of charge by Jackson’s Butchers Oban to all attendees.

In a very close contest, Rotarian Dave Waltho took third place ,Chris Sutton pressed hard for 2nd place and Tommy McQuade sneaked in to win the competition by a small margin.

The evening included burgers and onions provided by the Rotary Catering Corps, produced on a traditional charcoal barbecue.
The Rotary Shooting Cup was won by immediate Past President Tommy MacQuade with the junior prize being won by Matthew McDonald son of recent recruit Ken McDonald.
Organiser Past President Billy MacLean (no mean shot himself) thanked the Gun Club members for their hospitality and patience and presented them with a gift to end the proceedings just before the midges arrived and the rain fell.
