Following an approach from Ganavan Sands parkrun, who organise a weekly 5km run starting at Ganavan Sands at 9.30am on a Saturday, to provide a defibrillator for community use the Rotary Club of Oban responded accordingly
and President Tommy McQuade is seen here along with Senior Vice President Iain Mac Intyre beside the equipment which was recently installed at Ganavan Sands. To access the facility, a 999 telephone call will provide the code for opening the box and the intention is that Oban Rotary along with Ganavan Sands parkrun intend to advertise on a continuing basis the availability of the facility for locals and visitors alike.
The defibrillator and dedication plaque were installed free of charge by Oban Electrical Services, Ltd and CGL(Oban)Ltd respectively.
Running alongside this donation, to mark the opening of the new "Dove Centre" in Stevenson Street by the Oban Hospice Movement Oban Rotary gifted the centre a defibrillator which will be housed internally. Oban Rotary, who earlier contributed to the funding of a therapeutic chair for Oban Hospice, are pleased to be associated with this most worthwhile local initiative.
