Dictionaries4Life

This year, as always, Oban Rotary Club sponsors Dictionaries4life and distributes them among local primary schools.
The children at Bunessan Primary School (above) were very grateful to have received the dictionaries from the Rotary Club. There were enough for each child in P4, P5, P6 and P7 to receive one.

In the photograph, with the children, is Mr Jack Degnan, a former Head Teacher at the school, who brought the dictionaries over from Oban and who presented them to the children.

Some of the recipients, from Lismore Primary, are shown (left) with their books.
The photos below show some, but not all, Primary 5 pupils at Rockfield and St Columba's respectively receiving "Dictionaries 4 Life" from Oban Rotary Past President Ken Oxland with Senior Vice President Iain Mac Intyre also in attendance. These dictionaries, which are distributed across the board to primary schools in Argyll, are quite unique in that they provide photographic and coloured illustrations of the information in the books. For some time now these dictionaries have been regarded as prized possessions by the youngsters because they are given to them rather than the school.
