CURRY NIGHT
In an effort to maintain and expand the renowned fellowship which exists within Oban Rotary Club a "Curry Night" was held at The Spice World on Friday, 29/3 with 22 attending which in some cases included wives. It was generally agreed that this was a very good night with plenty of food and choice available although conviviality was very much in evidence with all saying at the end of the evening "What a great night".
The only downside was that the event clashed with ABCD's annual Quiz Night which the club invariably puts in a team(s) as we did again this year. There is absolutely no truth in the rumour that this clash arose due to a former Oban Celtic and Oban Camanachd player failing to converse with each other!
MELFORT
With a view to expanding the social side of Oban Rotary's activities, Rotarian Etonella Christlieb, supported by her husband John, hosted a get-together at Melfort Pier and Harbour (their place) on Sunday 28th August with in all 15 people attending.
The get-together started with drinks and light bites followed by a four course sit-down dinner. The food and drinks were of high quality and a great time was had by all. Unfortunately, Etonella's efforts clashed with a pre-arranged Golf outing to Dunaverty, which involved 11 Rotarians, most of whom would have gone to Melfort with their spouses.
Mike Urwin is to organise the next get together on Saturday, 17th September, which will take the form of a lunchtime BBQ. A good turnout is expected.
