The Oban Music Society (OMS), which has been in existence for around 25 years endeavours to promote classical music in and around Oban based at St Johns Cathedral. The members put on, and participate in, monthly concerts from October to March each year and, through grant support from the likes of Enterprise Music Scotland, are able to attract internationally acclaimed musicians to these concerts.
OMS are able to provide the only quality concert piano in the the area and, as this is now nearly 80 years old, members are fund raising to buy a replacement because the piano underpins their efforts to bring quality musicians to their concerts. Rotary Club of Oban President, Graham Fraser, is seen here presenting a cheque for £500 to OMS Chairman Richard Hess towards OMS's fund raising efforts.
