The Banunule School Support Group which helped to establish the Banunule Primary school for orphans in Uganda expressed profound thanks to Oban Rotary for a donation of £400 towards the provision of new uniforms which were required following the merger of the school with Terra Nova Nursery and Primary School in Kampala and it is anticipated that the enlarged school will continue to flourish. The funds were used to purchase materials to enable uniforms to be made by the local support group.
The Banunule school for orphans was established 12 years ago and has been able to offer education to hundreds of orphans and other disadvantaged children and many alumni are now in gainful employment including professions such as medicine and engineering and are able to support themselves and their families. The school has grown from small beginnings to where it is to-day offering first class education and social, medical and welfare services to children who would not have access to such facilities. Terra Nova's future plans include the provision of secondary/vocational education for its students.
